Regional Leadership Development Conference
The theme of Region VI's Regional Leadership Development
Conference for 2008 is SHPE Case Study.. The theme
embodies SHPE-UIUC's vision that the conference will provide
a motivating force for improving the quality of the Region VI
chapters on both the student and professional track. Workshops and activities will engage conference
attendees in team settings to generate action plans for common
difficulties facing current SHPE chapters.
This conference has been designed to develop not only the
leadership in individuals, but also the leadership of SHPE
chapters as a whole. First, workshop tools will give attendees
the opportunity to improve their leadership through selfawareness.
Then, activities designed to address common
SHPE chapter issues will allow attendees to learn how to
develop a SHPE chapter as a whole. Progressing from
member development to chapter development will help
members to receive the greatest impact from the conference.
It is our hope at UIUC that all attendees, both students and
professionals, will leave our conference with tools and ideas
they can implement in their chapters and their own
personal lives.
